A ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure

A ounce of prevention, is worth a pound of cure

The mentally ill are a vital part of our population. They contribute artistically and creatively in ways that amaze most mentally well people. It seems, if a mentally ill person can develop a Relapse Prevention Plan listing symptoms and interventions that help with those symptoms. Then the condition along with symptoms and interventions, the government, or other private organizations should see that the interventions are used, and made available, to the given client for their symptoms and should these request for intervention be granted within reason. The expense would be well worth it.

Example, if a given symptom of a client requires acupuncture, if it works for a given client, no further studies need to be done to prove its effectiveness. Funding should be made available for such things, such as vitamin supplements, varies teas and even a day once a month or two to a spa. This type of treatment could save society from much of the big bills of medication and perhaps even a cost in human violence when clients who could not normally afford these interventions act out all to tragically and violently.

In short a ounce of prevention, is worth a pound of cure, as a mental health professional for ten years I know this is true. Now! lets make a change in the system! So, we can all breath safer, knowing our mentally ill have truly the best treatment possible.
